Carrying on the tradition of wonderful races run around Lake Macbride, this is a moderately challenging, one or two looped course event focused on some of the best trails at beautiful Lake Macbride State Park, the largest State Park in Iowa.
This event starts and finishes at the Macbride Spillway parking area. Runners will start by running the North Loop, which is mainly crushed limestone trails adjacent to the Lake. These early miles will lead to an out and back on the North Shore trail where the first aid station is located. Then things start to get technical on the North Snowmobile trails. This will lead back to the start/finish aid station, before crossing the dam for the first Spillway crossing and the South Loop. The South loop will provide runners with a variety of terrain, as there is single track, prairie, and some fun hills to keep things interesting. The final aid station will be at the Anglers Point lot, before the return trip back to cross the Spillway a second time, and finish the loop! 50k runners will then go back to have some more fun on a second loop!
It is important to note that runners that were familiar with the previous race that was run at Lake Macbride, will find a very different course than had been run for the last decade of that event. The planned LMTR route is nearly all on trails and avoids running on any major sections of road/highway.

There will be an abundance of parking at the Coralville Res Boat Ramp parking lot, that is a short walk to the start finish area. There will be no parking in the smaller Spillway lot at the top of the hill at the start/finish area.
There will be 4 aid stations per each loop, including the stop past the start finish area after finishing the North loop prior to heading out over the dam and Spillway to start the South loop. These aid stations will be stocked with the best hydration and nutrition you should expect to find while running an Ultra on the trails! The exact distances of each aid station will be determined once the route is posted.
