What if I get thirsty or hungry along the way?
This is an Adventure Half Marathon which means you will only be provided minimal support on your trek. There will only be one water station at the half way point of the race in Berkley, IA from 10:15am-11:15am. It is suggested that you carry any food, drink, or items with you during your run or have a friend bike along with you carrying food, drink, extra clothes, motivational words of support, etc.
What do you suggest I should wear?
Lots and lots of layers! Not only should you prepare for the cold, but also prepare for wind and cold. There is no protection from the elements since you will be running through farm country. Also, don’t forget your ID!
What do I get as a hard core runner?
Besides running in extreme cold and wind for a good cause?! All finishers will receive a personally handcrafted wooden medal, snacks, and something to drink at the finish line until supplies run out. Please feel free to explore the other food and entertainment options in Rippey. If you are waiting for a ride you are welcome to warm up at the Rippey United Methodist Church on the West end of Main Street.
Top finishers in both the men’s and women’s division will receive a larger personally crafted awesome wooden medal. Did I mention I am a master craftsman? Because I am not. They’re still awesome though because you earned them!
Everything is based on the honor system. You will be responsible of keeping track of your own times and reporting them to us to receive a medal and a very solid high five. The race starts at 9:30 am sharp, so please be there early.
How do I get home?
Since this is an adventure run starting in one town and ending in another you are responsible for providing your own transportation to and from the start and finish lines. Feel free to stick around and explore Rippey after the end of the race with food and drink!
