Doc Dash is a 5K run/walk supported by the Carver College of Medicine. It takes a route through the hospital campus and surrounding neighborhood. The COVID-19 pandemic required this event to become virtual for two years, but we are lucky to have our 30+ year tradition in person for the first time since 2019! A shorter children’s race (dubbed the ‘Doc-ling Dash’) starts before the race, and this year there will be an additional adaptive division in partnership with our very own Physical Therapy school.
Don’t forget to share photos from your Doc Dash with us on social media! In addition to healthcare professionals, the race is geared to the general public.
All proceeds are donated to the Iowa City Free Medical and Dental Clinic and the University of Iowa Mobile Clinic. These Iowa City organizations provide services to under-served populations who are uninsured or under-insured. Additionally, the Mobile Clinic draws its volunteers entirely from the College of Medicine and students of other healthcare disciplines, including the Physical Therapy and Pharmacist schools, to aid in the training of future healthcare professionals.
