Everything on this site is real stock from our seven Iowa stores. Choose in-store pickup at checkout and select Ames; we will have it ready, normally within an hour during opening hours, and email you when it is. Prefer delivery? The fitting
A fitting at Fitness Sports costs nothing and there is no obligation to buy. We measure foot length, width and arch height, watch you walk or run, and ask about the miles you do, where you do them and anything that hurts. Then we bring out two or three pairs that suit you and let your feet decide. Learn more about the Fit Experience.

Questions we get asked in Ames
Do I need an appointment at Fitness Sports Ames?
No. Walk in any time during store hours and a fitter will look after you. If you would like a set time, or you are bringing a team or group, book a fitting and we will be ready for you.
Can I pick up an online order at the Ames store?
Yes. Choose in-store pickup at checkout and select Ames. Orders are normally ready within an hour during opening hours and we email you when they are. Bring your order confirmation. See our shipping and pickup page for details.
Do you fit walking shoes and work shoes, or only running shoes?
Both. A lot of our customers never run a mile. We fit walking shoes, shoes for standing all day (nurses, teachers, warehouse and retail staff), and shoes and insoles for plantar fasciitis, heel pain, bunions and wide feet. We do not diagnose medical conditions; we fit footwear that many customers find far more comfortable.
Which brands are in stock in Ames?
Brooks, HOKA, ASICS, New Balance, Nike, Saucony, On, Altra, Mizuno and OOFOS, plus insoles, socks and recovery products. Stock varies by store; the size and colour you see online is what is on the shelves across our stores, and the product page shows which store has your size.
What happens if the shoes are not right after I get them home?
Our fitting promise covers you. If the shoes are not working, bring them back within 30 days with your receipt and we will refit you. Full terms are on our returns page.
