This 5k fun run will support the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus’s mission to eliminate homelessness through permanent supportive housing. The event will bring community members and residents of Supportive Housing together through a shared journey to the finish line.
At the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus we help men and women who are experiencing homelessness, or at risk of becoming homeless, move into their own apartments while being surrounded by supportive services. A sense of community and belonging is essential as residents transition out of a life of homelessness and into a life of stability. One way we provide this is through a weekly walking club; a time when neighbors can come together with staff and volunteers to get to know one another, build friendships, and better their physical and mental health. Each week, our residents walk increasing distances as they are prepared for the 5k run on May 14th.
This event is for all ages and abilities. Food and drinks will be provided after the race. Each participant will head home with an origami crane handmade by one of our residents; a symbol of hope and healing during challenging times. Make a difference in your community! Spots are limited – Register for the Crane 5k Fun Run today!
